Costa Rica 2016

Three weeks of volcanoes, forests and beaches, in February and March 2016.

Costa Rica 2016

Costa Rica in an almost complete loop, in the dry season. The Arenal volcano and its lake open the trip, with the first coatis, howler monkeys and toucans; then the Tenorio region and its sky-blue river, the Llanos de Cortés waterfall and the mud pots of Rincón de la Vieja.

The Pacific coast follows, beach after beach, from Guanacaste to the Nicoya peninsula: Conchal, Grande, Negra, Ostional and its turtles, Sámara. The Monteverde cloud forest offers hanging bridges and hummingbirds, before the descent to Manuel Antonio, Uvita and its whale's tail of sand, then the quetzals of San Gerardo de Dota.

The trip ends on the Caribbean side, at Manzanillo and in the Gandoca reserve, before one last look into the smoking crater of the Poás volcano.
